VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING June 4, 1951 A regular meeting was held at the Municipal Building on June 4, 1951. Members present: R. A. Ellingson, Mayor; Emil Parent, Dan Bailey, R.A. Ryding, Trustees; H.A. Briggs, Clerk The meeting was called to order by Mayor Ellingson. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Ernest Nelson and Oliver Micheau were present. They stated that several members of the Fire Department have been donating their services as special police at ball games, parades and so forth. They asked if the village would pay part of the expense of uniforms for six members of the Fire Department. A motion was made by Bailey and seconded by Ryding to allow $100.00 toward the cost of uniforms for six members of the Fire Department. Motion carried. The matter of the summer recreation program was discussed. A motion was made by Ryding and seconded by Bailey to appropriate $400.00 for this program for 1951. Carried. A motion was made by Bailey and seconded by Briggs to authorize the transfer back from the Liquor Fund to the General Fund of $4500.00 and also an additional $500.00 from the Liquor Fund to the General Fund to the Sewer Construction Fund. Carried. The following bills were allowed and ordered paid: Vernon Cemetery Assn – dues 6.00 Williams Stamp Co – dog tags 8.65 E.R. Machine Shop – services snow plow .50 Hettrick Bros - .90 Oil Co of Elk River – gas 1.50 Miller-Davis Co – village warrants 14.74 First Nat’l Bank – insurance 49.70 Kemper Drug – Ellen Tacy Case 8.22 Hoglund Greenhouse flowers 63.10 City of Anoka – steaming catch basins 12.00 Star News – notices 4.80 Elk River Utilities – lights 47.96 Elk River Utilities – hydrant rent 52.00 Elk River Utilities – street lights 100.00 Nickerson Bros – mdse and plowing snow 113.69 Zella M Page – janitor service 7.00 Zella M Page – library books 43.65 N.W.
