<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />April 2, 1951 <br /> <br />A regular meeting was held at the Municipal Building on April 2, 1951. <br /> <br />Members present: <br /> R. A. Ellingson, Mayor; Emil Parent, Dan Bailey, R.A. Ryding, Trustees; H.A. Briggs, <br />Clerk <br /> <br />The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. <br /> <br />Ralph Richner and Frank Dreissig met with the Council regarding payment of the sewer rental <br />payments. <br /> <br />There was considerable discussion regarding this matter and also regarding certain adjustments in <br />the sewer rental ordinance passed at the last regular meeting. <br /> <br />A motion by Ryding and second by Bailey approved a building permit of Farm Bureau for an <br />addition to their station. This was subject to the approval of the Fire Marshall. Motion carried. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Parent and seconded by Bailey to refund $40.00 to Elk River Township for <br />an overcharge for the Holland Fire. The motion carried and the clerk was instructed to send a <br />warrant for that amount to the Clerk of Elk River Township. The clerk was also instructed to pay <br />Harry Dreissig $6.00 for the Fire Department. <br /> <br />A request was made for a street light at the west end of Line Street. A motion was made by Bailey <br />and seconded by Briggs to recommend to the Light and Power Commission that this be done. The <br />motion carried. <br /> <br />As there have been so many complaints regarding the poor service in Elk River of the Greyhound <br />Bus Company the clerk was authorized to write the company to see if something can be done to <br />improve the service. <br /> <br />The following bills were approved and ordered paid: <br />Fire Department – Truck fire 13.50 <br />Elk River Lmbr and Mch Co – mdse 35.00 <br />First Nat’l Bank – bond 8.50 <br />Standard Oil Co – fuel for Hall 59.57 <br />Oil Co of Elk River – gas and oil 118.35 <br />N.W. Bell Telephone Co – 8..30 <br />Elk River Implement Co – chair and fire dept 13.70 <br />Anthony Burgoyne – snow removal 71.00 <br />Dick Wombill – street work 6.00 <br />E.R. Utilities – hydrant rent 52.00 <br />Street lights 100.00 <br />Traffic and hall 51.48 <br />Sherman Sachs – groceries Belanger 15.00 <br /> <br />
