<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />November 7, 1949 <br /> <br />A regular meeting was held at the Municipal Building on Nov 7, 1949. <br /> <br />Members present: <br /> Oscar Odegard, Mayor; Emil Parent, R.A. Ellingson, Trustees; H.A. Briggs <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Odegard. The minutes of the last meeting were read and <br />approved. <br /> <br />A committee composed of Oscar Swanson, Frank Belanger, H. Anderson and O.J. Oscarson <br />presented a petition for an extension of the sanitary sewer in their part of town. H.J. Lavine and Cal <br />Johnson opposed the petition and Mr. Lavine asked that his name be removed from the petition, <br />which was done. The council agreed to have Les Derr get a surveyor to check into this matter to see <br />if it is advisable to extend the sewer this year. <br /> <br />Cal Johnson asked that a street light be placed on the corner of Spring Street and Third Street. The <br />Council agreed to take care of this, also investigate the matter of a culvert requested by Mr. H. <br />Anderson last of his house. <br /> <br />Resignation of the following members of the Library Board were received and accepted: Mrs. H.A. <br />Briggs, Mrs. L.D. Bailey, Mrs. L.A. Dare. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Ellingson and seconded by Parent to approve transfer of $1500.00 from the <br />Liquor Fund to the Sewer Construction fund. Carried. <br /> <br />Application of John C. Wilson for a Cigarette license was approved. <br /> <br />The Council decided to have E.R. Martin make audit of the Sewer account for the year ending Dec <br />31, 1949. <br /> <br />The matter of election hours was brough up. A motion was made by Ellingson and seconded by <br />Briggs to change the hours the polls are to be open at the village election from 7 A.M. to 8 P.M. to <br />the hours of 8 A.M. to 6 P.M. Motion carried. <br /> <br />The following bills were approved and ordered paid: <br />Elk River Implement Co – truck repair 3.60 <br />Miller-Davis Co – election blanks 3.97 <br />Fire Department – fires 45.00 <br />Harold Peterson – sidewalk and curb 8.72 <br />E.R. Utilities – hydrant rent 52.00 <br />Harold Peterson – crossing and curb 79.80 <br />E.R. Utilities – October lights 397.96 <br />Zella M Page – salary 50.00 <br />Zella M Page – library books 30.60 <br />Zella M Page – janitor service 6.00 <br /> <br />
