<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />August 2, 1948 <br /> <br />A regular meeting was held at the Municipal Building on Aug 2, 1948. <br /> <br />Members present: <br /> Oscar Odegard, Mayor; Elmer Leger, Dan Bailey, R.A. Ellingson, Trustees; H.A. <br />Briggs, Clerk <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Odegard. The minutes of the last meeting were read and <br />approved. <br /> <br />Clifford Martineau asked about drainage in his vicinity and the Council agreed to investigate and see <br />what can be done. <br /> <br />The matter of fire department calls out of town was brought up. Upon motion by Leger and second <br />by Ellingson it was agreed to make a flat charge of $50.00 per fire outside of town. The clerk was <br />also asked to contact the township clerk of nearby townships and see if some agreement can be <br />made between the village of Elk River and the several townships by which the village can send bill <br />direct to the township for payment. <br /> <br />A motion was made to transfer $2900.00 from the Liquor Fund to the Sewer Construction Fund. <br />Carried. <br /> <br />A petition was presented for construction of a curb on Line Street between High Street and Lioness <br />Street signed by a number of property owners. Upon motion by Ellingson and second by Leger the <br />petition was accepted. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Briggs and seconded by Leger to approve application for building permit <br />presented by Mac Hamlett. Motion carried all voting in favor. <br /> <br />The following bills were approved and ordered paid: <br />Liquid Carbonic Corp – mdse 3.35 <br />N.W. Bell Telephone Co – July 10.75 <br />Elk River Utilities – hydrant July 52.00 <br />July lights 193.43 <br />White way 122.47 <br />Stadium July 89.10 <br />League of Minn Mun. – dues 45.00 <br />Dr. E.L. Clothier – Kenniston Case 19.25 <br />Charles M Nelson – Labor on Furnace 15.00 <br />M.B. Galchutt – mdse swimming pool 3.74 <br />Kemper Drug Co – swimming pool 2.87 <br />Fire Department – services 94.50 <br />Acone Tag Co – cards for Marshall 29.05 <br />Caley Hdwe – mdse for fire hall 4.20 <br />Dick Wombill – street work 10.40 <br /> <br />
