VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING August 2, 1948 A regular meeting was held at the Municipal Building on Aug 2, 1948. Members present: Oscar Odegard, Mayor; Elmer Leger, Dan Bailey, R.A. Ellingson, Trustees; H.A. Briggs, Clerk The meeting was called to order by Mayor Odegard. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Clifford Martineau asked about drainage in his vicinity and the Council agreed to investigate and see what can be done. The matter of fire department calls out of town was brought up. Upon motion by Leger and second by Ellingson it was agreed to make a flat charge of $50.00 per fire outside of town. The clerk was also asked to contact the township clerk of nearby townships and see if some agreement can be made between the village of Elk River and the several townships by which the village can send bill direct to the township for payment. A motion was made to transfer $2900.00 from the Liquor Fund to the Sewer Construction Fund. Carried. A petition was presented for construction of a curb on Line Street between High Street and Lioness Street signed by a number of property owners. Upon motion by Ellingson and second by Leger the petition was accepted. A motion was made by Briggs and seconded by Leger to approve application for building permit presented by Mac Hamlett. Motion carried all voting in favor. The following bills were approved and ordered paid: Liquid Carbonic Corp – mdse 3.35 N.W.
