<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />January 5, 1948 <br /> <br />A regular meeting was held at the Municipal Building on Jan 5, 1948. <br /> <br />Members present: <br /> Oscar Odegard, Mayor; Elmer Leger, Dan Bailey, R.A. Ellingson, Trustees; H.A. <br />Briggs, Clerk <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by the newly elected Mayor Oscar Odegard. Dan Bailey was the <br />newly elected trustee. <br /> <br />Cal Johnson inquired about getting a lease on the building occupied by the Elk River Utilities in case <br />it should be vacated. He offered to donate fixtures for a toilet in the Municipal Bldg in case it was <br />decided to remodel. <br /> <br />It was decided to do nothing about vacating the utility building for the present. <br /> <br />The clerk reported the results of the recent village election. Oscar Odegard was elected Mayor and <br />Dan Bailey Trustee. <br /> <br />At this meeting Mayor Odegard appointed Charles M Nelson Village Marshall for the coming year. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Ellingson and seconded by Leger that Howard Wakefield be appointed <br />Village Attorney for the coming year. The motion carried. <br /> <br />The mayor appointed the following standing committees: <br /> <br />Parks and Playgrounds <br />Leger <br />Briggs <br />Ellingson <br /> <br />Relief <br />Briggs <br />Bailey <br /> <br />Sewer and Water <br />Ellingson <br />Leger <br />Bailey <br /> <br />Liquor <br />Leger <br />Ellingson <br />Briggs <br /> <br /> <br />
