<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />February 3, 1947 <br /> <br />A regular meeting was held at the Municipal Bldg on February 3, 1947. <br /> <br />Members present: <br /> Mayor Glenn Davidson, V.B. Skellenger, Elmer Leger, R.A. Ellingson; H.A. Briggs, <br />Clerk <br /> <br />Meeting was called to order by Mayor Davidson. The minutes of the meetings were read and <br />approved. <br /> <br />Ernest Nelson and Dr. E.F. Clothier representing the Fire Department were present. They called <br />attention to the fact that the fire department needed a respirator to be used in cases of suffocation <br />or drowning. The fire department offered to pay $100 of the expense. Upon motion by Skellenger <br />and second by Leger the council agreed to buy such an instrument. Carried. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Leger and seconded by Skellenger that the village purchase two flood lights <br />for the fire truck and also one charger large enough to charge one battery. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Application for building permit of Wm Greupner was approved. <br /> <br />Application for on and off beer license by Edward Miller was up for consideration. Upon motion by <br />Ellingson and second by Skellenger the application was approved but clerk was asked to hold up <br />license until Miller arrives in town or until Council has further information in regard to who will <br />conduct the place of sale. <br /> <br />A motion by Leger and second by Briggs that Clarence Barnier be hired as bartender at the <br />Municipal Liquor Store. Carried. <br /> <br />The following bills were approved and ordered paid: <br />Nickerson Bros – cleaning sidewalks 24.90 <br />Miller-Davis Co – blanks for clerk 7.53 <br />Central Lmbr Co – mdse 5.90 <br />Davidson Dept Store – flag 4.95 <br />Fire Dept – services 34.50 <br />J.H. Daly – jan salary 16.66 <br />Fire Dept – services 32.25 <br />Star News – pub financial statement 95.45 <br />E.R. Public Utilities – Jan 220.40 <br />N.W. Bell Telephone Co – Jan 12.50 <br />Zella M Page – janitor service 7.00 <br />Zella M Page – library books 40.64 <br />Zella M Page – Jan salary 35.00 <br />Hugh Owens – deputy marshall 7.00 <br />Postmaster – postage for clerk 13.00 <br />H.A. Briggs – Jan salary 25.00 <br /> <br />
