At the time, the consensus was to cancel the
June concerts.

The July concerts are now only several weeks away prompting the need to make decisions on those dates.
Staff is recommending the cancellation of the concerts up to and including the July 23 event for the
following reasons:
 The current Emergency Executive State order 20-74 states “In outdoor settings, gatherings must
not exceed 250 individuals.” The Riverfront Concerts Series frequently has over 2,000 visitors.
 The design of Rivers Edge Commons Park would make social distancing challenging.
 Delaying the decision on July concerts could jeopardize the return of the band deposits.
 The Bank of Elk River, the series sponsor, is concerned with holding the series this year due to
the public health issues.

Financial Impact
Variable by the direction chosen

Attachments
 N/A

The Elk River Vision
A welcoming community with revolutionary and spirited resourcefulness, exceptional
service, and community engagement that encourages and inspires prosperity
