<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />May 22, 1961 <br /> <br />A special meeting was held at Village Hall on May 22, 1961 at 9:00 P.M. <br /> <br />Members present: <br /> Henry Johnson, Mayor; R.G. Kemper, August Meyer, Trustees; H.A. Briggs, Clerk <br /> <br />The purpose of the meeting was to consider an extension of the sewer from the end of the sewer on <br />Main Street south 790 feet more or less. The cost is to be about $6.40 per foot including <br />compacting. <br /> <br />This extension is to etend under the new highway. Thos present were: Engineer Mills, Archie <br />Johnson, Lester Rootes, Wm Patenaude, Stanley Wheaton, Charles Nogle, George Dietz, John <br />MacGibbon, Earl Hohlen, Kendal Houlton. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Kemper and seconded by Larson to go ahead with the extension. Roll call <br />vote: Meyer – yes, Larson – yes, Kemper – yes, Briggs – yes, Johnson – yes. Carried. <br /> <br />Upon motion by Meyer and second by Kemper the Council agreed to issue a building permit to Earl <br />Hohlen for a trailer count, the location to be decided later. <br /> <br />A petition was filed by Ben Roper and R.R. Schulze asking for parts of certain streets be vacated on <br />account of the fact that some buildings encroach on these streets. This situation is of long standing. <br />A motion was made by Briggs and seconded by Larson to approve this action. Carried (see petition <br />for description) A hearing on the petition will be held on June 5, 1961 at 8 P.M. <br /> <br />George Dietz and Charlie Nogle met with the Council. They would like to use a better recreation <br />program which would include the girls as well as the boys.
