<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />October 3, 1960 <br /> <br />A regular meeting was held at Village Hall on October 3, 1960. <br /> <br />Members present: <br /> Henry Johnson, Mayor; R.G. Kemper, G.A. Bergerson, August Meyer, Trustees <br /> <br />H.A. Briggs, Clerk was absent. Robert Kemper acted as Clerk. The meeting was called to order by <br />Mayor Johnon, the minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. <br /> <br />LeRoy Toth was present. He asked whether license for small pool table would be the same as for the <br />regulation size. This was referred to the village clerk. <br /> <br />Herman Sachs asked that his beer license be renewed. Upon motion by Meyers and second by <br />Bergerson the renewal was approved. <br /> <br />E.L. Shadick and Roy Ryding appeared in regard to the sidewalk in front of the Elk River Hardware <br />Store. The County Engineer said the walk has sunk about five inches at the curb. The matter will be <br />checked into by the council. <br /> <br />Al Balow appeared in regard to the plumbing at the liquor store. There were leaks under the bar and <br />in the toilets. A motion was made by Meyers and seconded by Bergerson that the plumbing be put <br />in good working order by the Kohl plumbing Co within fifteen days or appropriate action will be <br />taken by the council. Motion carried. Mr. Balow will contact the architect about the plumbing. <br /> <br />A resolution was made by Bergerson and seconded by Kemper that liquor and beer establishments <br />in the village abide by the following rules: <br /> <br />No sales after midnight. Close up by 12:15 a.m. <br /> <br />No line music. Carried. A copy of the resolution is to be sent to each licensee. <br /> <br />Robert Barnier asked permission to have the buses park in front of his place of business at times <br />when they have heavy freight to unload, not as a regular stop. The Council decided to discuss this <br />with Police Chief Micheau. <br /> <br />Robert Lloyd appeared as an applicant for a job as assistant to Les Derr. He is a gradate of the Elk <br />River High School and has had some training in drafting and map reading and blue prints. No action <br />was taken. <br /> <br />Oliver Micheau recommended that buses not be allowed to park on the street in front of Barniers <br />Confectionary, on account of the traffic hazard. <br /> <br />The following bills were allowed and ordered paid: <br /> <br />Andy’s Electric – labor 6.60 <br /> <br />
