City of <br />Qk*l <br />River <br />Request for Action <br />To <br />Item Number <br />Mayor and City Council <br />8.2 <br />Agenda Section <br />Meeting Date <br />Prepared by <br />General Business <br />April 20, 2020 <br />Michael Hecker, Parks and Recreation Director <br />Item Description <br />Reviewed by <br />Professional Services for Orono Park and Youth <br />Cal Portner, City Administrator <br />Reviewed by <br />Athletic Complex Projects <br />Action Requested <br />Award, by motion, the Agreement for Professional Services to hire SRF Consulting Group (SRF) to <br />complete the design and construction services for the Orono Park and the Youth Athletic Complex <br />(YAC) projects. <br />Background/Discussion <br />The Orono Park and YAC park improvements are part of a major investment in the quality -of -life for Elk <br />River residents which was made possible by a 2018 voter -approved $35 million Local Option Sales Tax <br />Referendum. <br />Staff solicited a Request for Proposal (RFP) for professional design and construction services for the Orono <br />Park and YAC projects on the League of Minnesota Cities and the City of Elk River websites. We received <br />eight proposals and interviewed two firms. <br />Staff recommends awarding the work to SRF.
