VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING February 1, 1960 A regular meeting was held at the Village Hall on Feb 1, 1960. Members present: Henry Johnson, Mayor; August Meyer, R.G. Kemper, Trustees; H.A. Briggs, Clerk The minutes of the previous meetings were read and approved. At this meeting bids were received for sale of bonds for the treatment plant amounting to $105,000.00. Motion by Kemper and second by Meyer to close bids. Carried. Manheimer Egan and Harold E Wood Co – Ave. int. rate 4.698863% First Natl Bank of Minneapolis and First Natl Bank of Elk River – Ave rate 4.41276% Allison-Williams Etal – Ave rate 4.367045% Jaron and Moody Etal Ave rate 4.36022% Jaron and Moddy had the lowest bid. A petition was received with 37 names asking for a referendum regarding the Hospital District. Motion by Kemper and seconded by Briggs petition be accepted. Carried. The meeting was open for anyone desiring to be heard regarding Extension C of the sewer. Non appeared. A motion eas made by Meyer and seconded by Kemper to close the hearing. Motion carried. A hearing was held regarding the extension of the water main. No one appeared. Motion by Briggs and second by Kemper to close the hearing. Carried. A motion was made by Meyer and seconded by Kemper to call a special election for referendum or resolution adopted Jan 4, 1960 regarding the hospital district. Election to be held on Mar 15, 1960 from 4 P.M. to 8 P.M. at the Village Hall. Motion carried. The following bills were allowed: Hetrick Station – gas and oil 19.76 Fire Department – fires 150.00 Fire Department – fires 571.00 Bank of Elk River – 5.00 Bank of Elk River – insurance 495.47 Carter-Krueger and Assoc – sewer 905.75 Uptown Welding – repairs 2.60 Greupner Shoes – mdse 41.40 Fire Chief Assn – dues 11.00
