<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />August 3, 1959 <br /> <br />A regular meeting was held at the Village Hall on Aug 3, 1959. <br /> <br />Members present: <br /> Henry Johnson, Mayor; G.R Bergerson, August Meyer, R.G. Kemper, Trustees; H.A. <br />Briggs, Clerk <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Johnson. <br /> <br />The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. <br /> <br />Surveyor Dom Pepper asked about the development of the Hiff property and what width was <br />required for streets. He was told streets should be 60 feet wide. <br /> <br />William Anderson and delegation were present. They complained about dust on Railroad Drive <br />caused by the hauling of coal on that street by the R.C.P.A. The council agreed to do something <br />about it. Harry Larson also asked about grading on his street. This will be taken care of also. <br /> <br />The Clerk was asked to write the Civil Aeronautic Board in regard to the landing of private planes <br />on Lake Orono. <br /> <br />Engineer Carter was present. There was discussion in regard to certain homes and business places <br />which are now connected to the storm sewer and which should be on the sanitary sewer when it is <br />completed. There was also discussion regarding sewer extensions south of the Elk River and in the <br />N.E. Lake district. It was decided to go ahead with bids for the sewer treatment plant now and <br />consider the extension later. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Meyer and seconded by Kemper to advertise for bids for the treatment plant <br />bids to be opened at the Village Hall on Aug 24, 1959. Motion carried. <br /> <br />The following bills were approved: <br />Ed Lickness – labor 92.00 <br />Postmaster – postage 3.00 <br />S.S. Shattuck – city maps 4.56 <br />Judy Jo Wilson – life guard 12.00 <br />Robert Johnson – life guard 156.00 <br />Neil Larson – life guard 156.00 <br />Jerry Mullen – life guard 168.00 <br />E.R. Utilities – July 204.00 <br />N.W. Bell – phones 28.75 <br />George Moos – police 92.80 less tax <br />Ruth Kramer – Asst. 23.75 <br />Leon Burton – spec. police 40.95 <br />Fire Department – fires 45.00 <br />H.L. Johnson – expense 7.25 <br /> <br />
