<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />September 6, 1938 <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Village Council was held at the Municipal Building Tuesday Sept 6, 1938 <br />at 8 o’clock P.M. <br /> <br />Members present: <br />Frank Nickerson, Pres.; G.A. Bailey, Wm Patenaude, Geo Cornelius, Trustees; <br />Wm H Greupner, Clerk. <br /> <br />Minutes of last meeting were read and approved. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Geo Cornelius seconded by Wm Patenaude to fix the walk and curb in front <br />of Hahus Store. The sidewalk to be fixed the same as in front of the First Natl Bank. Motion carried. <br /> <br />A letter was read from Miss Hoyt, Co Relief Administration, stating that within another thirty days <br />Alfred Axelson and family would gain their residence in Sherburne County and it would cost the <br />County about $150.00 a year. She thought it best that this family be moved back to Anoka County <br />immediately. After some discussion it was the opinion of the Council to have this family moved <br />back to Anoka County. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Geo Cornelius seconded by G.A. Bailey to hire Gene Glidden as school <br />patrol at $10.00 a month for the school year. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Geo Cornelius seconded by G.A. Bailey to grant building permits to Wm <br />Mausur for a garage and Eugene Axelson for a house. <br /> <br />Harold Keays, caretaker of the parks was present and stated that some of the trees needed attention <br />and wanted to know if the Council wanted him to do the work. Mr. Keays was instructed to take <br />care of the trees. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Wm Greupner seconded by G.A. Bailey to put in a side walk and curb on <br />the Village lot located at Park Street and to put in a culvert at Park Street and Lookout Ave. Motion <br />carried. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Geo Cornelius seconded by G.A. Bailey to allow the following bills. <br />Jim Lero – driving truck 43.75 <br />N.W. Bell Tele Co – tele rent 5.30 <br />E.R. Power and Lt Co – light and power 400.01 <br />Alan Palmer – life guard 28.00 <br />Harold Keays – labor 15.00 <br />Chet Bailey – recording .75 <br />Chas Nelson – cleaning W. Tank 10.00 <br />Ethel Lloyd – cleaning 1.50 <br />Wayzata Boat Co – boat 70.00 <br />Wm H Greupner – freight 1.77 <br />Pittsburgh Meter Co – meters 46.20 <br /> <br />
