<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />September 27, 1937 <br /> <br />The special meeting of the Village Council was held at the Municipal Bldg Mon Sep 27, 1937 at 8 <br />o’clock P.M. <br /> <br />Members present: <br />J.D. Flaherty, Pres.; G.A. Bailey, Geo Cornelius, Wm Patenaude, Trustees; <br />Wm H Greupner, Clerk. <br /> <br />The purpose of this meeting was to meet with Mr. O.W. Farrell and his representatives in regards to <br />a permit for an Oil Station. These men were not present so no action could be taken on this matter <br />at the present time. <br /> <br />Mr. J.E.P. Darrell representing the Minn Highway Dept was present and looked over the proposal <br />plans of the above mentioned Oil Station and stated that there would not be room to put a building <br />the size they intend to on this piece of land between Steins warehouse and the Depot. <br /> <br />Mr. Leslie Laugley was present at this meeting and asked the Council to recommend hospitalization <br />and direct relief for himself after a lengthy discussion it was decided that Mr. Laugley could get along <br />without this help and therefore a motion was made by G.A. Bailey seconded by Geo Cornelius to <br />deny Mr. Laugley direct relief and hospitalization upon roll call motion was carried <br />Ayes – G.A.
