<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />August 2, 1937 <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Village Council was held at the Municipal Bldg Monday Aug 2, 1937 at 8 <br />o’clock P.M. <br /> <br />Members present: <br />J.D. Flaherty, Pres.; G.A. Bailey, Geo Cornelius, Wm Patenaude, Trustees; <br />Wm H Greupner, Clerk. <br /> <br />The minutes of last meeting were read and approved. <br /> <br />L.G. Nelson came before the council and said the two streets leading to the fairgrounds were in <br />need of repair. Geo Cornelius and G.A. Bailey said they would take care of this matter. <br /> <br />O.W. Farrell, retired railroad traveling freight agent of the Great Northern railroad was present at <br />this meeting and sked for a building permit to build an Oil Station on the property between Steins <br />Warehouse and the Depot. Mr. Farrell was told that he would have to have this application in <br />writing and supply the Council with plans and specification. <br /> <br />A letter was read from Mrs. Waterman thanking the Council for painting the yellow lines on the <br />curbing in from of her home. <br /> <br />A motion was made by G.A. Bailey seconded by Geo Cornelius to have the clerk send for twelve <br />new water meters from the Pittsburgh Meter Co. Motion carried. <br /> <br />The clerk reported that Mr. Middelstadt had spoken to him about the curb boxes and said some of <br />the caps should be replaced with the sewer type so the sand pipe would not fill up with sand. It was <br />decided to have Lee Slaback check up on this matter and have it taken care of. It was also brought <br />up and discussed about putting a pipe on the water main on Park Street with a valve on to see if a <br />lot of the sand could be eliminated. The Clerk was instructed to see Mr. Middlestadt about the cost <br />of this work. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Geo Cornelius seconded by G.A. Bailey to allow the following bills. Motion <br />carried. <br />N.W. Bell Tele Co – tele rent 3.05 <br />E.R. Power and Lt Co – power and lights 371.45 <br />S.G. Adams – badge 1.52 <br />Dr. A.B. Roehlke – fumigating 16.50 <br />Miller Davis Co – supplies 1.37 <br />Harold Keays – labor 15.00 <br />First Natl Bk – insurance 8.28 <br />Lee Slaback – labor 10.00 <br />Allan Palmer – life guard 25.00 <br />Fred Ayer – janitor 12.00 <br />Dan Hjerpe – repairs 5.35 <br />Dares – supplies 6.00 <br /> <br />
