<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />August 5, 1936 <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Village Council was held at the Municipal Bldg Monday Aug 5, 1936 at <br />8:00 o’clock P.M. <br /> <br />Members present: <br />J.D. Flaherty, Pres.; G.A. Bailey, Geo Cornelius, Wm Patenaude, Trustees; <br />Wm H Greupner, Clerk. <br /> <br />The minutes of last meeting were read and approved. <br /> <br />A representative of the Pittsburgh Meter co came before the Council stating that his company would <br />sell water meters at $10.50 a piece providing the council would contract for at least 5 dozen meters <br />to be shipped as needed. A motion was made by G.A. Bailey seconded by Geo Cornelius to contract <br />for 5 dozen meters. One dozen to be shipped at once and the other four dozen to be shipped as <br />needed. Motion carried. <br /> <br />The matter was brought up about Circus’s and shows coming into Elk River for a day or more. The <br />opinion of the Council was that $10.00 a day would be a fair license fee to charge. A motion was <br />made by Wm Patenaude seconded by G.A. Bailey to charge all circus and shows a license fee of <br />$10.00 a day. Motion carried. <br /> <br />The clerk was instructed to have Bill Roggatz fix the gasoline engine at the Pump House, so it will <br />be in good condition. <br /> <br />A motion was made by G.A. Bailey seconded by Geo Cornelius to allow the following bills and <br />order them payed. <br />N.W. Bell Tele Co – tele rent 2.50 <br />E.R. Power and Light Co – light and power 354.95 <br />Chas M. Nelson – tele calls 5.00 <br />Odegard and Nickerson – supplies 5.38 <br />Elias Roggatz – labor 3.50 <br />Flaherty Bros – charging battery 1.25 <br />Harold Keays – labor 15.00 <br />Geo McBride – lifeguard 25.00 <br />Frank White – legal fees 25.00 <br />League of Municipalities – dues 40.00 <br />Midwest Fire Apt Co – supplies 1.16 <br />Pittsburgh Meter Co – supplies .51 <br />Wm H Greupner – freight .50 <br />Star News – printing 2.90 <br />Fred Ayer – janitor and labor 20.25 <br />Fred Ayer – Grass fires 32.00 <br />Fred Ayer – grass fires 33.00 <br />Ralph Wige – band leader 80.00 <br />R.E. Dare – music and chairs 31.20 <br /> <br />
