VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING
June 19, 1936

The special meeting of the Village Council was held at the Municipal Bldg Friday June 19, 1936 at
1:00 o’clock P.M.

Members present:
J.D. Flaherty, Pres.; G.A. Bailey, Geo Cornelius, Wm Patenaude, Trustees;
Wm H Greupner, Clerk.

The purpose of the meeting was to decide about the medicine and medical care for people that are
receiving old age assistance. A letter was read from A.L. Mitten relief administrator stating that the
County Commissioner had passed a resolution whereas the Villages and townships would have to
pay for medical care and medicine for people that were receiving old age assistance. After a
discussion and the opinion of Frank White, Village Attorney, it was decided that the Council would
have to tell these people that the Village would not be able to help them for the reason that the two
mills levied for poor relief is turned over to the County and there is no money left in the poor fund
to take care of these bills.

Joe Flaherty, Mayor, received a letter from Mrs. Edith Murray complaining that the people using the
swimming pool were trespassing on her property which adjoins the bathing beach and asked to have
a fence erected. Geo Cornelius and Wm Greupner were appointed to see Mrs. Murray about this
fence and were authorized to have this fence put up.

No further business meeting adjourned.

Wm.
