<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />April 6, 1936 <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Village Council was held at the Municipal Bldg store Monday April 6, <br />1936 at 8:00 o’clock P.M. <br /> <br />Members present: <br />J.D. Flaherty, Pres.; G.A. Bailey, Geo Cornelius, Wm Patenaude, Trustees; <br />Wm H Greupner, Clerk. <br /> <br />The minutes of last meeting were read and approved. <br /> <br />Chas Booth came before the Council stating that he was planning on buying a snow plow providing <br />he was assured that the Village would give him the job of plowing the streets next winter. Mr. Booth <br />was told that the Council could not make this promise. <br /> <br />Donald Dare and Ralph Wige came before the Council asking permission to buy two base horns <br />which would cost approximately $208.00 but stated that the Elk River School has some old <br />instruments that they were willing to turn in and the company would allow approximately $124.00 <br />for these instruments. The actual cost to the Villate would be about $84.00. A motion was made by <br />G.A. Bailey seconded by Geo Cornelius authorizing Donald Dare and Ralph Wige to purchase these <br />two horns. Motion carried. <br /> <br />A letter was read from Henry Pfeiffer resigning as Justice of Peace in and for the Village of Elk <br />River. A motion was made by G.A. Bailey seconded by Geo Cornelius to accept Mr. Pfeiffers <br />resignation. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Wm Clements, street commissioner reported that they were working on the water mains which were <br />frozen (on Depot Street) and asked if the Council thought it best to lower this part of main as much <br />as it could be lowered and he also asked permission to buy three lengths of water mains from <br />Princeton. Mr. Clements was instructed to take care of this matter. <br /> <br />The following applicants presented applications to sell non-intoxicating malt liquor on and off sale <br /> <br />P.E.
