<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />December 2, 1935 <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Village Council was held at the Municipal Bldg Monday December 2, <br />1935 at 8:00 P.M. <br /> <br />Members present: <br />D.E. Davis, Pres.; J.D. Flaherty, Wm Patenaude, Trustees; <br />Wm H Greupner, Clerk. <br /> <br />Donald Davis stated that Mrs. Conaway working on a W.P.A. sewing project had asked if the Village <br />would authorize her to have 2 sewing machines repaired also to buy thread, one pane of glass and an <br />electric bulb. After some discussion Wm Patenaude and J.D. Flaherty were appointed to investigate <br />and see if it were up to the Village or County to spend money for equipment for the W.P.A. project. <br /> <br />Chas Reed asked for a permit to move the small bldg. that stands in back of the Star News office up <br />to the grange hall located on Lincoln Street. A motion was made by J.D. Flaherty seconded by Wm <br />Greupner and carried to grand Chas Reed this permit. <br /> <br />The Library Board requested $50.00 for books and receptacle to be put in the Library room. Motion <br />made by J.D. Flaherty seconded by Geo Cornelius to allow the board $50.00 and also have Mr. <br />Nelson put in a receptacle. Motion carried. <br /> <br />At this meeting, it was made to appear to said Council by a certificate of H.J. Pfeiffer, Justice of the <br />Peace, that Lloyd Johnson of the Village of Elk River, holding a 3.2 non intoxicating malt liquor <br />th <br />license at the Madson building on Princeton Street in the Village of Elk River was on the 16 day of <br />November 1935 convicted before said H.J. Pfeiffer and Justice of Peace in and for said Village and <br />County of selling to one Walter J Lange intoxicating liquor to wit: whiskey, potable as a beverage <br />and containing more than 3.2% of alcohol without first procuring a license therefore as by law <br />provided. <br />Wherefore it was moved by George Cornelius and seconded by William Patenaude that the said <br />license for the same of 3.2% beer be revoked and that said license be taken away from him and that <br />the Village Marshall be instructed to take up said license and serve copy of this resolution upon said <br />Lloyd Johnson. <br />And thereupon said motion being put to said Council, the said Council voted as follows. <br />Ayes – D.E. Davis, George Cornelius, Wm Patenaude, J.D. Flaherty, Wm H.
