<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />April 7, 1941 <br /> <br />A regular meeting of the Village Council was held on April 7, 1941 in the Municipal Bldg at 7:30 <br />P.M. <br /> <br />Members present: <br /> M.C. Tesch, Mayor; E.L. Shadick and G.A. Bailey, Trustees; J. Clinton Walker, Clerk <br /> <br />The minutes were read and approved. <br /> <br />A motion was made by E.L. Shadick to take care of the Relief Clients present as follows: <br /> <br />thst <br />Bert Sweeney - $10.00 rent, 17 of April to 1 of May <br />Mrs. Nels Nelson – rent $5.00, light bill $2.15 and a $7.00 stamp book – the rent and light bill to be <br />deducted from Bert Nelson’s Village check. <br /> <br />August Leider – Groceries $10 – Rent $10 – Light bill $1.65 Fuel 50 gal Dist. <br />L.J. Bethke – Groceries $10.00 <br />Arden Sykes request for dental work was not allowed. <br /> <br />The motion was seconded by G.A. Bailey and carried. <br /> <br />Mr. Leo Scharrer of Mpls was present and applied for a 3:2 Beer license. No action was taken until <br />references could be obtained from Mpls. <br /> <br />S.M. Madson applied for a permit to build a one story frame dwelling valued at approximately <br />$2500.00 on lot 3, blk 19. A motion was made by G.A. Bailey and seconded by E.L. Shadick to grant <br />S.M. Madson a building permit. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Mayor Tesch appointed E.L. Shadick, G.A. Bailey and Frank Nickerson to serve on Sewer <br />Committee. <br /> <br />A motion was made by E.L. Shadick and seconded by G.A. Bailey to hire Harold Keays as Supt of <br />Parks for 1941 at $20 per month. Motion carried. <br /> <br />A motion was made by G.A. Bailey and seconded by E.L Shadick to pay John Orton the sum of $20 <br />for a city dump for a year. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Clinton Walker and seconded by G.A. Bailey to give $25.00 to the <br />Recreation Committee. <br /> <br />It was decided to buy another 110 ft of Fire Hose from H.R. Caley Inc. before the price advanced. <br /> <br />A resolution was introduced by G.A. Baiely to pay the Clerk $15.00 a month out of the Liquor fund <br />st <br />for keeping the liquor store books from April 1 1941 to Jan 1, 1942. First check to be drawn the <br />first of April. E.L. Shadick seconded the resolution. Vote for Resolution – G.A. Bailey, E.L. <br /> <br />
