UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING <br />TO: FROM: <br />ERMU Commission Tom Sagstetter Conservation & Key Accounts Manager <br />MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: <br />January 14, 2020 6.1f <br />SUBJECT: <br />Staff Update <br />ACTION REQUESTED: <br />None <br /> <br />DISCUSSION: <br /> In the last 30 days, the level two charger located downtown had 14 sessions, and <br />provided customers with 142 kWh of green energy. The charger in the ERMU/City Hall <br />parking lot had 8 sessions and provided customers with 194 kWh of green energy. The <br />DC fast charger at the Coborn11 sessions and provided 132 kWh <br />of green energy to customers. There was a total of 33 charging sessions and 468 kWh of <br />energy provided over the last 30 days. <br /> Staff is working with two residential customers that are installing solar photovoltaic <br />systems on their homes. One installation is almost complete and is approximately 5 kW. <br />The second system is approximately 8 kW and is just getting started. <br /> The 2019 rebates are almost complete. There are a couple of commercial customers <br />that are trying to complete their paperwork but it may be pushed to 2020 for <br />processing. The preliminary customer energy savings is estimated to be 2,882,160 kWh. <br />Staff is evaluating the utility infrastructure efficiency models provided by the Minnesota <br />Department of Commerce to capture possible energy efficiency savings from <br />transformer and distribution conductor upgrades. <br /> Had the initial kick-off meeting with Dave Berg Consulting on January 8 for the cost of <br />service study for both electric and water. The schedule is to have the study done in the <br />first quarter of 2020. <br /> Staff has been working with Great Plains Institute and the Drive Electric Minnesota <br />workgroup on policy positions for the 2020 legislative session. The policy positions <br />adopted are general in nature and focus on the benefits of electric transportation, <br />installing additional infrastructure for electric vehicle charging, and incentivizing <br />purchases at the state level. There is also support for electrifying mass transit in the <br />urban areas, and school buses. <br /> Delivered approximately 50 energy efficiency kits to local, low-income rental properties. <br />These kits consist of many items that promote energy efficiency and safety. The most <br />beneficial items include; LED bulbs, window film for sealing windows, low flow <br />showerheads, smart power strips, and an LED nightlight. <br />______________________________________________________________________________ <br />Page 1 of 1 <br />174 <br />
