<br />UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING <br /> <br />TO: FROM: <br />ERMU Commission Dave Ninow Water Superintendent <br />MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: <br />January 14, 2020 6.1e <br />SUBJECT: <br />Staff Update <br />ACTION REQUESTED: <br />None <br /> <br />DISCUSSION: <br /> Delivered eight new water meters. <br /> Sealed the water meter, installed an encoder receiver transmitter, and took curb stop <br />ties from eight water services. <br /> Completed 15 BACTI/Total Chlorine Residual Samples <br />o All confirmed negative for Coliform Bacteria <br />o Bacteriological/Disinfectant Residual Monthly Report submitted to the MDH <br /> Completed 21 routine fluoride samples <br />o All samples met MDH standards <br />o Submitted MDH Fluoride Report <br /> Submitted Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) Discharge Monitoring Report <br />(DMR) for the Diesel Generation Plant <br /> The water operators have started the annual task of recharging all the filters at the <br />water treatment plants. This process takes roughly one week per filter. <br /> On December 5, a water mixing unit was installed in the Johnson Street Water Tower to <br />prevent ice buildup on top of the water, which is extremely damaging to the structure <br />and paint. We normally drain this tower and utilize Auburn Street Water Tower for the <br />winter, which is not possible this year as a result of the Auburn Street Water Tower <br />rehabilitation not being completed. <br /> The water department has been performing preventative maintenance on the water <br />treatment plants.
