UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING
TO: FROM:
ERMU Commission Theresa Slominski Administrations Director
MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER:
January 14, 2020 6.1b
SUBJECT:
Staff Update
ACTION REQUESTED:
None

DISCUSSION:
The auditors from Abdo, Eick, and Meyers were here on Tuesday, December 17, for preliminary
audit work involving
meeting minutes. Everything reviewed was excellent or outstanding what a great compliment
to the accounting work done throughout the year! The actual 2019 audit is scheduled for
Thursday and Friday, February 27-28, 2020.

NISC will be here January 21-23, 2020 to provide user training for Mobile Workforce and
AppSuite. Users will be trained on completing service order workflows in an NISC test data
environment. The live date for implementation will be February 4, 2020.

We have been doing cycled inventory counts weekly throughout 2019 for the electric
department. With the final count done in December, we have a discrepancy of $747 for the
year, out of valued inventory of approximately $936,000 for a .08% discrepancy total. The water
department is at 0% discrepancy. Kudos to everyone for that success!

In preparation for new employer requirements for the Commercial Drivers License (CDL) , there
has been some time dedicated to registering with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety
Administration (FMCSA) and getting everything set up for compliance in 2020. Minnesota
Municipal Utilities Association (MMUA) has been helpful with providing information for this new
requirement.

ERMU staff will be meeting with Dave Berg Consulting on January 8 to begin our rate study now
that we are with our new power provider. Staff has been gathering and preparing information
needed for this study.

______________________________________________________________________________
Page 1 of 1
168
