<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />January 1, 1941 <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Village Council was held at the Municipal Bldg. Mon. Jan 6, 1941 at 7:30 <br />P.M. <br /> <br />Members present: <br /> M.C. Tesch, Pres; Frank Nickerson, and G.A. Bailey, Trustees; J. Clinton Walker, <br />Clerk <br /> <br />The following committees were appointed for 1941 by M.C. Tesch, pres. Road Com. – G.A. Bailey <br />and Frank Nickerson. Parks Com. – Clinton Walker and Frank Nickerson. Relief Com. – Clinton <br />Walker and G.A. Bailey. Water Works Com. – Clinton Walker and Frank Nickerson. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Frank Nickerson seconded by G.A. Bailey to appoint Dr. A.B. Rochlke as <br />health officer for 1941. <br /> <br />A motion was made by G.A. Bailey seconded by Frank Nickerson to reappoint Chas M. Nelson as <br />Marshal for 1941 at a salary of $75.00 a month, pumper at $35.00 a month and janitor at $7.50 a <br />month from Oct. 1 to May 1 and allowing him $25.00 a month for the use of his car. <br /> <br />A motion was made by G.A. Bailey seconded by Frank Nickerson to reappoint Lee Slaybeck as <br />Waterworks Supt. For 1941 at 40 cents an hour. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Clinton Walker seconded by G.A. Bailey to reappoint Rupert Zimmer as <br />Street Commissioner at 40 cents an hour for his labor. The above motion all carried. <br /> <br />Andrew Madsen requested permission to hook on to the sewer on Princeton street. He was asked to <br />find out if the sewer were low enough to make this possible and report back to the council. <br /> <br />Hugo Lenz was present and asked for work or relief. He was allowed a $10 Grocery order and a $7 <br />order for rent for the month of January. <br /> <br />Dave Davies made a report on a hospital case. <br /> <br />After thoroughly discussing the matter, a motion was made by G.A. Bailey and seconded by Frank <br />Nickerson to raise on sale 3.2 the beer licenses from the present $50 a year to $100 a year payable in <br />advance. The vote was unanimous. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Frank Nickerson and seconded by Clinton Walker approving the $500 Bond <br />of F.W. Nickerson for Justice of the Peace. Motion carried. <br /> <br />A motion was made by G.A. Bailey seconded by Clinton Walker approving the $1000 Bond of <br />George Cornelius for Manager of the Municipal Liquor Store. Carried. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Frank Nickerson seconded by G.A. Bailey approving the $500 Bond of <br />Clinton Walker for Village Clerk. <br /> <br />
