<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />November 6, 1939 <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Village Council was held at the Municipal Bldg Monday November 6, <br />1939 at 8 o’clock P.M. <br /> <br />Members present: <br /> Frank Nickerson, Pres.; G.A. Bailey, Wm Patenaude, and Geo Cornelius, Trustees; <br />Wm H Greupner, Clerk <br /> <br /> The minutes of last meeting were read and approved. <br /> <br />Frank White came before the council and said that the telephone matter was to come up either Nov <br />13 or 14 and he wished some of the council members would attend this meeting with him and Mr. <br />Tyler. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Geo Cornelius seconded by G.A. Bailey to grant Joe Lloyd a building permit <br />to remodel his barn. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Geo Cornelius seconded by Wm Greupner to renew John Vicka’s off and <br />on sale non intoxicating malt liquor license for one year. <br /> <br />The matter was brought up in regard to the sewer work to be done in the Village under the W.P.A. <br />It was decided to have a meeting the next morning to see about lowering the sewer in front of L.K. <br />Houlton’s home and putting in a new sewer at Shadicks confectionary to the river. <br /> <br />A motion was made by G.A. Bailey seconded by Wm Greupner to buy a new hydrant, to replace the <br />one that was damaged on the corner of Main Street and Park Ave. The old one to be taken to Dan <br />Hjerpe for repairs. <br /> <br />The matter was brought up about installing speed signs on the Meadowvale and Burns road that lead <br />into the Village. It was decided to call Bill Brown, County Engineer and see if the County would not <br />take care of this. <br /> <br />A motion was made by G.A. Bailey seconded by Geo Cornlius to hire the following judges and <br />clerks for the Village elections. Clerks – Wm Greupner, Irene Kaliher, Judges – J.C. Anderson, Wm <br />Blocker and Fr. Nogle. <br /> <br />Geo Cornlius brought up the matter about the pipe to be put in at upper town for a fire hydrant. It <br />was decided to have Henry Arnold of Princeton do the work. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Wm Patenaude seconded by G.A. Bailey to allow the following bills. <br /> <br /> <br />N.W. Bell Tele Co Tele rent $7.05 <br />E.R. Power and Light Co. Light and Power $245.21 <br />Frank White Legal fees $68.00 <br /> <br />
