<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />July 1, 1940 <br /> <br />st <br />The regular meeting of the Village Council was held at the Municipal Bldg Monday July 1 1940 at 8 <br />o’clock P.M. <br /> <br />Members present: <br /> M.C. Tesch, Mayor; Geo Cornelius and Frank Nickerson, Trustees; Wm H <br />Greupner, Clerk <br /> <br /> The minutes of the last meetings were read and approved. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Frank Nickerson seconded by Wm Greupner to allow Leo Varville a no <br />intoxicating malt liquor license for one year. Motion carried. <br /> <br />The following relief clients were taken care of <br />Joe Belanger $8.00 rent <br />James Lero $10.00 Groc <br />James Lero $3.00 ½ mo rent <br /> <br />Dan Hjerpe, Lee Bishop and Herb Greupner a committee from the Fire Dept were present and bids <br />were opened for a new fire truck as follows. <br /> <br />Luvurne Fire Apparatus Co. $2400.25 <br />Without relief valves $2300.75 <br />Flour City Fire Truck Bldg $2300.50 <br />With foam extinguisher $18.00 <br />Hand Tank $14.00 <br />4 in suction hose instead of 3 ½ $40.00 <br />Extra f__ 1 in. hose $25.50 <br />$2395.00 <br /> <br />W.S. Knoth Co - $2387.50 <br /> <br />After discussing the bids with the committee from the Fire Dept a motion was made by Geo <br />Cornelius seconded by Frank Nickerson to have the Flour City Fire truck Bldg Co build the truck <br />for $2395.00 <br /> <br />The terms of Mrs. L.D. Bailey, Mrs. M.C. Tesch and Mrs. Wm Greupner of the Elk River Library <br />board expiring at this time it was decided to appoint Mrs. Harry Briggs and Mrs. L.A. Dare in the <br />place of Mrs. Tesch and Mrs. Greupner cause of their resignation and Mrs. Bailey continue another <br />three years. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Wm Greupner seconded by Frank Nickerson to buy new lawn mower for <br />$13.50 from Caleys. <br /> <br /> <br />
