<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />June 7, 1940 <br /> <br />A special meeting of the Village Council was held June 7, 1940 at 8 P.M. at the Municipal Building. <br /> <br />Members present: <br /> M.C. Tesch, Pres.; Geo Cornelius and Frank Nickerson, Trustees; Wm H Greupner, <br />Clerk <br /> <br />The purpose of this meeting was to open bids for a new Chassis and fire truck which are as follows - <br />J.E. Odegard – Ford Chassis with Cab, snow tires and heater – Chassis $877.00 – heater $21.00 <br />Elk River Implement Co – International Truck with Cab $858.88 <br />Christian and Green Studebaker truck with cab - $880.00 <br />Flaherty Bros – Chevrolet truck without cab - $605.00 – with cab $695.00 <br />Luverne Fire apparatus Co – Fire truck body and equipment $1925.00 if the chassis has a cab. <br />$135.00 more if the chassis is without a cab. <br />W.S. Darling Co. Chicago, Ill submitted by Flaherty Cros Building fire truck, body and equipment <br />$1925.00 <br />Flour City Body Corporation Building fire truck body and equipment $2145.00 <br />Buffalo Fire Appliance Corp Building Fire truck body and equipment $2293.34 <br />W.S. Noth Co. Building fire truck body and equipment $2256.52 <br />General Fire Truck Corp Building Fire truck and equipment $2095.00 <br /> <br />After looking over all the bids a motion was made by Geo Cornelius seconded by Wm Greupner <br />and carried that the Village purchase a Ford Chassis at $877.00 and a heater for $21.00 from J.E. <br />Odegard. <br /> <br />The building of a truck body and equipment was discussed and it was decided to have the <br />committee from the fire department Dan Hjerpe, Lee Bishop and Herb Greuipner look over the <br />bids and report back at a later meeting to see which one they recommended. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Frank Nickerson seconded by Wm Greupner to adopt the following <br />resolution and appoint the following committee to act for two years. <br /> <br />Resolution <br />A Resolution creating a Recreation Board for the City of Elk River, in accordance with State of <br />Minnesota Recreation enabling Act Chapter 233, Laws of 1937, passed on April 15, 1937. <br /> <br />The City Council of the City of Elk River does hereby resolve as follows: <br />1. That a Recreation Board for the City of Elk River is hereby created. <br />2. That said Board shall consist of five members who are qualified voters of the city; that said <br />members shall be appointed by the Council by and with the consent of the Council. That said <br />members shall serve until they resign or are removed by the city council that said members are to <br />serve without compensation. <br />3. That the function and duty of said Board shall be to establish and maintain a general recreation <br />program for the city of Elk River and said Board shall have the power to adopt such rules and <br /> <br />
