<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />May 20, 1940 <br /> <br />A special meeting of the Council was held Thursday May 20, 1940 <br /> <br />Members present: <br /> M.C. Tesch, Pres.; Geo Cornelius, G.A. Bailey and Frank Nickerson, Trustees; Wm <br />H Greupner, Clerk <br /> <br />Herman Mahron came before the Council and asked if he could be appointed foreman on the Curb <br />and Sidewalk project. He was told that the Council had nothing to say in regards to this matter and <br />he would have to see Mr. Kissel, W.P.A. area engineer at Buffalo. <br /> <br />Mr. Davies relief administrator brought up the case of Mrs. Otto Hemming and a Mr. White. He <br />state that he had received several letters from the South Dakota Children’s Home Society at Sioux <br />Falls stating that Mrs. Hemming had a child in Dec 1939 and left it in their home in Jan 1940. Mrs. <br />Hemming being a resident of the Village of Elk River, a motion was made by G.A. Bailey seconded <br />by Geo Cornelius to bring the child to Sherburne County and offer the home $60.00 for the keep of <br />st <br />the child from Feb to June 1 1940. <br /> <br />No further business, meeting adjourned. <br /> <br />Wm H Greupner M.C.
