<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />April 15, 1940 <br /> <br />A meeting of the Council was held Monday Apr 15, 1940 at 7:30 o’clock P.M. at the Municipal Bldg <br /> <br />Members present: <br /> M.C. Tesch, Pres.; G.A. Bailey, Trustee; Wm H Greupner, Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />C.J. Flaherty and Joe Holzem representing the Catholic Church asked to have the streets from John <br />Vickas to Lew Heurys Tarvia’s They were told that the roads that had been done in the Village had <br />been done when the county go a car load of tarvia. They were not sure when the county would get <br />any other car load but this road could be considered then. <br /> <br />The following relief clients were taken care of <br />Cora Nelson – Rent $5.00, Groc $5.00, Milk $2.00 <br />James Lero – Rent $6.00, Groc $8.00, Milk $2.00 <br />Carl Bartz – Groc $6.00 <br /> <br />D.P. Christeans application for a non intoxicating malt liquor license off and one sale at the coush <br />north of the railroad tracks was presented but do to the absence of some of the members it was <br />decided to take care of the matter the next day. <br /> <br />James Christi__ asked about a license for a popcorn machine to the station at the Village Park. It <br />was decided to take care of this the next day too. <br /> <br />The clerk reported that the Village was no longer able to use the dumping grounds on the Beak <br />farm. After some discussion Mr A Byson was called and asked if the Village could rent a dumping <br />ground on his farm. He stated that the wash out on his land could be used at the present time for <br />$15.00 a year. <br /> <br />A motion was made by G.A. Bailey seconded by Wm Greupner to charge the North Branch <br />Insurance Co $45.00 for the fire call at Pete Ohlmains place on April 14 and to charge the town of <br />Zimmerman $25.00 for the call at the Browns Mill on April 13, 1940. <br /> <br />No further business, meeting adjourned. <br /> <br />Wm H Greupner M.C.
