<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />March 4, 1940 <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Village Council was held at the Municipal Bldg Monday March 4, 1940 at <br />8 o’clock PM <br /> <br />Members present: <br /> M.C. Tesch, Pres.; Geo Cornelius and Frank Nickerson, Trustees; Wm H Greupner, <br />Clerk <br /> <br /> The minutes of last meeting were read and approved. <br /> <br />Oscar Swanson reported that the storm sewer on the corner opposite the Bob Adams property <br />needed some repair. It was decided to have this taken care of thru the W.P.A. <br /> <br />Bert Glidden representing the W.P.A. workers asked that the Council get up some more sewer work <br />so they would not have to be transferred to some other town. Mr. Glidden was told that the Council <br />had already layed out some more sewer work for them to work on. <br /> <br />The following relief clients were taken care of <br />Carl Bartz – Groc $10.00, Milk $3.00 <br />Harry Anderson Groc $5.00, Milk $1.50 <br /> <br />Mrs. Aug Wruck said that Mr. Davies said he could assign her on W.P.A. as a housekeeping project <br />but she said she would not be able to do this work because she had dizzy spells if she had to be on <br />her feet any length of time. It was decided to have her go to a doctor for an examination and see <br />what the trouble might be. <br /> <br />Chas Kurrasch. Groc $13.00, Milk $1.50, Lights $1.00 and ¼ ton hard coal and ¼ ton soft coal. <br />Fritz Carlson, medicine $.60 and after some discussion in regards to his wife it was decided that she <br />go to the University Hospital for a thorough examination and the Village pay for the trip down and <br />also pay her board and room for 3 or 4 days <br /> <br />st <br />Chester Waite $4.00 doctor bill from Jan 1 to Jan 14, 1940. <br />Joe Belanger $8.00 rent to Mrs. Aug Wruck for March. <br />Ed Keegan $10.00 for Mrs. Roberts for 1 month care and 2 night shirts. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Geo Cornelius seconded by Frank Nickerson to allow Mrs. Ida Burgoyne an <br />on and off sale non intoxicating malt liquor license for one year. <br /> <br />Gladys Hulbert asked that the council allow her a doctors examination. She was told that she had a <br />chance once for this examination and did not take it therefore the council felt it was not urgent. She <br />also asked to have some teeth extracted and was told the council would take it under consideration. <br /> <br />The following bills were allowed and ordered payed. <br /> <br />N.W. Bell Tele Co Tele rent $5.20 <br /> <br />
