<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />February 6, 1939 <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Village Council was held at the Municipal Bldg Monday Feb 6, 1939 at 8 <br />o’clock P.M. <br /> <br />Members present: <br /> Frank Nickerson, Pres.; G.A. Bailey and Geo Cornelius, Trustees; Wm H Greupner, <br />Clerk <br /> <br />Minutes of last meeting were read and approved. <br /> <br />R.K. Wilson and R.W. Handke came before the council and asked if the council would appropriate <br />money for the skating rink. After some discussion a motion was made by G.A. Bailey seconded by <br />Geo Cornelius that the council pay pay the lights used at the skating rink. <br /> <br />Jim and Shorty Christien, Joe Forysthe, Carol Irish and Ellwynn Hamlet representing the Elk River <br />Flying Club wanted to know if they could sublease the airport from the Village. They were told that <br />this matter would have to be taken up with Frank White Village attorney and see if this could be <br />done. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Geo Cornelius seconded by G.A. Bailey to grant A. Schuetz a building <br />permit for a new home and Myron Hanson a permit to move a building. <br /> <br />The matter was brought up again about renting the back of the I.O.O.F. building to be used for <br />parking space, but after some discussion it was decided to table it until a later meeting. <br /> <br />The subject was again brought up about the men playing cards in the council room. It was decided <br />there were other places in town to play so the clerk was instructed to write to H. Pfieffer and Fred <br />Nickerson as they have keys for this room. <br /> <br />Geo Cornelius stated that he and Dan Hjerpe had looked over the old fire truck and decided that if <br />the village would buy a second hand Model A. truck that it could be connected to the old truck for <br />approximately $100.00. It was decided to have Frank Nickerson find out what a second hand Model <br />A truck could be bought for. <br /> <br />A motion was made by G.A.
