<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />January 2, 1939 <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Village Council was held at the Municipal Bldg Monday Jan 2, 1939 at 8 <br />o’clock P.M. <br /> <br />Members present: <br /> Frank Nickerson, Pres.; G.A. Bailey and Geo Cornelius, Trustees; Wm H Greupner, <br />Clerk <br /> <br />Minutes of last meeting were read and approved. <br /> <br />Wm Greupner Clerk brought up that Middelstadt Bros had talked to him about paying for the <br />difference between the one inch meter and the three fourth inch meter that they had installed in the <br />I.L. Puik and Roehlke houses. They said that they did not know the Council had passed such a <br />resolution and that when they bid on the jobs they had not figured in the difference on these meters. <br />After some discussion it was decided that as long as the resolution was passed nothing could be <br />done about this matter. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Geo Cornelius seconded by G.A. Bailey to hire the following people for the <br />th <br />special election of Jan 10 and 17. Jan 10 election Judges J.C. Anderson, Joe Parker, Art Malkson <br />th <br />Clerks. Mrs. Foley and Wm. Greupner. Jan 17 Judges G.A. Pepin, Wm Blocker, Frank Nogle, <br />Clerks Irene Kaliher and Wm Greupner. <br /> <br />Chas Nelson Marshall presented his application for reappointment for Marshall and Pumper. A <br />motion was made by Geo Cornelius seconded by G.A. Bailey to rehire Chas Nelson for the <br />following year of 1939. <br /> <br />G.A. Bailey trustee spoke about the property in back fo the I.O.OF hall which belongs to the Elk <br />River Bldg Co and said it would make a splendid parking place. The Clerk was instructed to see what <br />the taxes amount to on this property and the matter brought up at the next meeting. <br /> <br />A motion was made by G.A. Bailey seconded by Geo Cornelius to allow the following bills. <br /> <br />The following bills were allowed and ordered payed. <br /> <br />N.H. Bell Tele Co Tele rent $6.15 <br />ER Power and Lt Co Power and Light $238.23 <br />Chas M Nelson Labor $10.00 <br />Middelstadt Bros Labor $16.00 <br />First Natl Bk Clerks Bond $5.00 <br />Thos. E.
