Ji <br /> Elk River <br /> Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING <br /> TO: FROM: <br /> ERMU Commission Theresa Slominski —Administrations Director <br /> MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: <br /> October 8, 2019 6.1b <br /> SUBJECT: <br /> Staff Update <br /> ACTION REQUESTED: <br /> None <br /> DISCUSSION: <br /> • We received our renewal information for the ancillary insurances of dental, life, and long term <br /> disability.The dental was a 15% increase which is a $6,524.64 annual total increase;the 75% <br /> employer increase is$4,893.48.The life insurance rate increased 19%for an annual increase of <br /> $984, and the long term disability rate increased 6%for an annual increase of$1,620. <br /> • With the territory transfer complete, we are setting up the new accounts and rates.There are a <br /> small number of customers requiring more attention because we meter rate structures <br /> differently than Con nexus does. <br /> • The new sales tax for the City was implemented on October 1 and the first billing was processed <br /> on October 2.There was some extra work required from NISC with the recent bill redesign that <br /> was not anticipated originally. <br /> • Assessment letters were sent starting in September with each of the four billing cycles, alerting <br /> customers to the fact that they will be assessed if payment is not made. The final numbers will <br /> be presented in November for actual assessment to the county. <br /> • The NISC Member Information Conference (MIC) at the end of September was a success. <br /> Information on the upcoming implementation of additional modules in 2020 was gathered. Also, <br /> the continuation of work on the customer service module "iVUE Connect" was observed, as we <br /> have struggled with using this for multiple services.
