PROCEEDINGS OF THE ANNUAL TOWN MEETING TOWN OF ELK RIVER March 8, 1960 th The Town board met at the court house on March 8 for the purpose of Annul \[sic\] town meeting. The first order of business was the appointment of a Moderator. Oscar Engstrom was elected Moderator for the Day. The meeting was called to order by Mr. Engstrom. The treasurers report was read he reported that the Balance in the bank was $8,580.31. It was voted to levy $3,500.00 for R&B fund. The amount in the drag fund was voted to be transferred to the Road & Bridge fund. The revenue fund being low was \[sic\] it was voted to raise $5,000.00 for this Purpose. It was voted that no money be raised for Poor fund. The next order of business was the time of Election for next year. The time for the business part of the meeting was set up to start at ten o’clock. The hours for the polls to be open was set from Ten o’clock in the morning to Eight Four in the evening. The Place was to be the same as this year. The Salary for the assessor was brought up. It was Moved and seconded that AL. Powell receives $12.00 a day. It also moved and seconded that the assessor be allowed $.075 per mile for mileage. Motion Carried. The next item of business was gopher bounty. This was approved by vote also. Motion was made on adjournment. It was seconded and carried. business part of meeting declared closed. Election to follow. At four o’clock the Polls were ordered closed. In the voting for hospital dist. there were 83 against and 3 for. In the soil district Dick Hinkel received 48 votes Nels Anderson 25. and Fred Matz 10. For Supervisor for three yrs. Everett Specht 79 Mike Ratz 1 and Erwin Specht 1. For Clerk Everett Rathbun received 76 Julius Nemeth 1 and Robert Powell 1. Therefore Everett Specht was declared elected for 3 yrs. and Everett Rathbun for 2 yrs. Meeting adjourned.
