<br />PROCEEDINGS OF THE ANNUAL TOWN MEETING <br />TOWN OF ELK RIVER <br />March 8, 1960 <br /> <br /> <br />th <br />The Town board met at the court house on March 8 for the purpose of Annul \[sic\] town meeting. <br /> <br />The first order of business was the appointment of a Moderator. Oscar Engstrom was elected <br />Moderator for the Day. The meeting was called to order by Mr. Engstrom. <br /> <br />The treasurers report was read he reported that the Balance in the bank was $8,580.31. It was voted <br />to levy $3,500.00 for R&B fund. The amount in the drag fund was voted to be transferred to the <br />Road & Bridge fund. The revenue fund being low was \[sic\] it was voted to raise $5,000.00 for this <br />Purpose. It was voted that no money be raised for Poor fund. <br /> <br />The next order of business was the time of Election for next year. The time for the business part of <br />the meeting was set up to start at ten o’clock. The hours for the polls to be open was set from Ten <br />o’clock in the morning to Eight Four in the evening. The Place was to be the same as this year. <br /> <br />The Salary for the assessor was brought up. It was Moved and seconded that AL. Powell receives <br />$12.00 a day. It also moved and seconded that the assessor be allowed $.075 per mile for mileage. <br />Motion Carried. <br /> <br />The next item of business was gopher bounty. This was approved by vote also. <br /> <br />Motion was made on adjournment. It was seconded and carried. business part of meeting declared <br />closed. Election to follow. <br /> <br />At four o’clock the Polls were ordered closed. <br /> <br />In the voting for hospital dist. there were 83 against and 3 for. <br />In the soil district Dick Hinkel received 48 votes Nels Anderson 25. and Fred Matz 10. <br />For Supervisor for three yrs. Everett Specht 79 Mike Ratz 1 and Erwin Specht 1. <br />For Clerk Everett Rathbun received 76 Julius Nemeth 1 and Robert Powell 1. <br />Therefore Everett Specht was declared elected for 3 yrs. and Everett Rathbun for 2 yrs. <br /> <br />Meeting adjourned. <br /> <br />Everett Rathbun <br />Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />\[The original text has no paragraphs, which were added to make this easier to read.\] <br />
