Elk River <br /> Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING <br /> TO: FROM: <br /> ERMU Commission Troy Adams, P.E.—General Manager <br /> MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: <br /> September 10, 2019 5.3 <br /> SUBJECT: <br /> Minnesota Municipal Power Agency Hometown WindPower Program <br /> ACTION REQUESTED: <br /> None <br /> DISCUSSION: <br /> The Minnesota Municipal Power Agency(MMPA), ERMU's wholesale power provider, has a <br /> program where they install a demonstration wind turbine in every member city. The agency is <br /> looking to site one of these wind turbines in Elk River. <br /> The tower is of a smaller scale than the one located off Highway 169 in northern Elk River. The <br /> MMPA towers in the other member cities are located near schools, city halls, utility offices, and <br /> areas of visibility. Pictured below are the installs in Shakopee and in Faribault. Attached is a <br /> picture indicating the height of the turbine and the plans for the installation in Shakopee. <br /> xri / <br /> • <br /> i <br /> Staff would like to discuss with the commission next steps for siting this tower.
