The Commission recommended an outdoor rink at Spectrum in December of 2018
and considered to no longer maintain the rinks at Lion John Weicht Park and Kliever Lake Fields Park.

Based on Council direction, staff is working with ERYHA and Spectrum officials on an agreement for
operations and use of the Spectrum rink this winter. ERHYA has agreed to purchase and install the
dasher boards. Spectrum will install lights and maintain the parking lot and warming house building. The
city will flood and maintain the ice rink and provide warming house attendants.

The Council referred the Kliever Lake Fields Park ice rink closure for further discussion with the Parks
and Recreation Commission.

Staff recommends closing this rink based on the low usage rate and operating costs.

Financial Impact
The cost to maintain the neighborhood ice rinks such as Kliever Lake Fields Park is $7,900 annually.

Attachments
 N/A
