<br /> <br />Request for Action <br /> <br /> <br />To Item Number <br />Mayor and City Council 4.6b <br />Agenda Section Meeting Date Prepared by <br />Consent July 15, 2019 Lauren Wipper, Human Resources Manager <br />Item Description Reviewed by <br />Hire Liquor Store Manager Joe Audette, Liquor Operations Manager <br />Lori Ziemer, Finance Director <br />Reviewed by <br />Cal Portner, City Administrator <br /> <br />Action Requested <br />Approve, by motion, the hiring of John Colotti to the position of Liquor Store Manager effective August <br />19, 2019. <br /> <br />Background/Discussion <br />With the retirement announcement of Assistant Liquor Operations Manager Steve Tillmann it was <br />decided a reorganization of the division was appropriate. The Assistant Liquor Operations Manager <br />position was eliminated, the Lead Liquor Clerk positions will be eliminated, and two Liquor Store <br />Manager positions were created. We went to market to fill the new positions. We received 40 applications <br />and interviewed eight candidates. Following background and reference checks, we recommend John <br />Colotti for one of these positions. <br /> <br />Mr. Colotti has been the City Liquor Manager for the City of Mound since 2003. Prior to that, he was a <br />Liquor Store Manager for Byerly’s, Assistant Manager at Apple Valley Liquor, a Liquor Sales <br />Representative for Bellboy Corporation, and an Assistant Liquor Store Manager for the City of St. <br />Anthony. Mr. Colotti holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communications with a Political Science minor. <br /> <br />Mr. Colotti will be starting at step C of pay grade 7E. He will begin accruing vacation at the rate of 3 <br />weeks per year.
