<br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Elk River Village Council was called to order <br />by Mayor Bartelt, on January 17, 1972 at 7:30 pm. in the Council Room of the Village <br />Office Building. Members were present as follows: Mayor Bartelt and Councilmen Syring, <br />Otto and Konop. <br /> <br />The minutes of the January 3, 1972 regular meeting were read. There were no addition <br />or correction and the minutes were approved as read. <br /> <br />Mr. Jack Klein voiced his concern over the railroad crossings at King & Lowell Avenues <br />as to whether they could be closed. The Council advised him that the Public Service <br />Commission has moved that a signal crossing be installed at the Main Street Crossing. <br />Construction for this installation will begin as soon as weather permits. Only after <br />this construction is completed and in operation can the King & Lowell Crossing be closed. <br /> <br />Bill Patenaude, Werner Banke, Richard Burgoyne and Arth~r Erickson of the utilities <br />Co~~ission Board meet with the Council and discussed employees pay scales. Last year <br />the Commission based the salaries of employees with comparible occupation at RCPA. <br />The last raise for the Utilities employees was August 1, 1971 at 8%. <br /> <br />Letters received from the Pollation Control Board and Bill Mill's Village~ngineer <br />were reviewed and it~as agreed that the recommendation submitted by Mr. Mills to <br />program the water treatment plant discharge into the sewer plant at its lowest flow <br />which would be at night and to pay the over-time rate for the men needed. <br /> <br />Mr. Patenaude will check the Dayton and Zimmerman Street lighting contracts before they <br />are returned. <br /> <br />Fire Chief Lloyd Barthel advised the council of errors in the new fire contracts. He <br />wc.s instrucJted to have John tlIacGibbon Village Attorney correct and revise said contracts <br />and to include 1 Harch 1972 as the effect date of the contracts. <br /> <br />Price Quotation for the fire hoses were submitted for the councils review. <br /> <br />Moved by Councilman Syring and seconded by Councilman Otto that the Fire Department <br />purchase the needed fire hoses at the cost of $3,495.00. Motion unaminously carried. <br /> <br />The following bills for the Municipal Liquor Store were approved for payment: <br /> <br />Elk River Hunicipal Utilities <br />N.W.
