<br />~ <br /> <br />:) <br /> <br />A special meeting of the Elk River Village Council was called to order by Mayor <br />Bartelt on Aug. 24, 1971, at 5:30 pm in the Council Room of the Village Office <br />Building. Members present were Mayor Bartelt and Councilmen Hudson, Syring, <br />Konop and otto, Village Engineer William Mills in attendance. <br /> <br />Mayor Bartelt declared the taking of bids for the 1971 street improvements be closed. <br /> <br />Bids were received as follows: <br />Hardrives, Inc. <br />Buffalo Bituminous <br />c. Parking Lot Area <br />11 II 2 __ II !l Paving Alley behind Coast to Coast-Davis' s etc. <br /> <br />Moved by Councilman Hudson and s~conded by Councilman Otto, to accept the low base <br />bid of H & S Asphalt Co., pending final tabulation by the Village Engineer, for <br />the 1971 street improvements as outlined in the minutes of tl;1e July 19, 1971 <br />council meeting, subject to a Oct. 1, 1971 completion date; H & S Asphalt Co., <br />being j~dgedcompetent,by the Village Engineer and autho~izilJg the Mayor and the <br />Village Deptuy Clerk-Treasurer to sign,a contract in the 'amount of $34,688.40, <br />based on estimate of quantities. l-iotion Ul'lBJIltnously carried. A copy of the <br />resolution is attached. <br /> <br />Moved by Councilman Syring and seconded by Councilman Hudson, to accept the <br />resignation of Larry Peterson as Village Clerk-Treasurer, to be effective immediate- <br />ly, as per his written request. Motion unaminously carried~ <br /> <br />. <br />Discussion with Mr. Mills on the ditching problem on School Street at U.S. Highwlq <br />169. It is doubtful that a voluntary easement could be secured from If!!'. Nickerson. <br />Placement of a culvert and ditching North was discussed. Mr. Mills reported that <br />the state ,highway dept., would grant a easement south along US Highway 169, pro- <br />viding they in turn, could get a easement from Gene Kreuser far ,the run off on the <br />east side of the highway. Mills will discuss further with the highway department <br />and the property owners involved. <br /> <br />, <br />Moved by Counci:lman Otto and seconded by Councilman Syring, authorizing V...acGibbon <br />and Mills to negotiate with Nickerson and Kreuser for ditch easements. ~otion <br />unaminously carriedo <br /> <br />No further bus iness, the meeting adj ourned. <br /> <br />
