<br /> <br />Request for Action <br /> <br /> <br />To Item Number <br />Mayor and City Council 4.10 <br />Agenda Section Meeting Date Prepared by <br />Consent June 17, 2019 Lauren Wipper, Human Resources Manager <br />Item Description Reviewed by <br />Hire Building Inspector Bob Ruprecht, Building Official <br />Reviewed by <br />Cal Portner, City Administrator <br /> <br />Action Requested <br />Approve, by motion, the hiring of Mark Pistulka for the position of building inspector effective July 8, <br />2019. <br /> <br />Background/Discussion <br />With the retirement notice of Building Inspector Bill Bandar, we went to market to fill this position. We <br />received 54 applications and interviewed nine candidates. Following background and reference checks, we <br />recommend Mark Pistulka for this position. <br /> <br />Mr. Pistulka has been working in the building inspection industry since 2002. He began working for the <br />City of Carver in 2006 as a building inspector. He moved into the interim building official position and <br />eventually was hired as building official in his thirteen years with the city. He holds a Building Official <br />License, is an ICC Certified Building Inspector, and has a MN Tree Inspector License. He graduated <br />from North Hennepin Community College with his Building Inspections Technology Certificate and also <br />has a technical degree in Aviation Maintenance Technology. <br /> <br />Due to his level of experience, Mr. Pistulka will start at step D of pay grade 2N. He will begin accruing <br />vacation at the rate of three weeks per year and will be given two days (16 hours) in the bank.
