*r.;,Elk Riv <br />Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING <br />TO: <br />ERMU Commission <br />MEETING DATE: <br />June 11, 2019 <br />SUBJECT: <br />Staff Update <br />ACTION REQUESTED: <br />None <br />FROM: <br />Dave Ninow —Water Superintendent <br />AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: <br />6.1e <br />DISCUSSION: <br />• Delivered six new water meters. <br />• Sealed the water meter, and took curb stop ties from seven water services. <br />• Completed 15 BACTI/Total Chlorine Residual Samples <br />o All confirmed negative for Coliform Bacteria <br />o Bacteriological/Disinfectant Residual Monthly Report submitted to the MDH <br />• Completed 22 routine fluoride samples <br />o All samples met MDH standards <br />o Submitted MDH Fluoride Report <br />• Submitted MPCA Discharge Monitoring Report (DMR) for the Diesel Generation Plant. <br />• Hydrant flushing went well; with the help of Tech Services, it took the water operators <br />five days to complete. <br />• Eric Jean, our new Water Operator, started on May 15. He's a great addition to the <br />crew. <br />• Staff has been working with the City Storm Water and Engineering departments on <br />planning for a new storm sewer pipe that will cross the water main on School Street. <br />The pipe will be installed at the current water main depth, so the water main will need <br />to be lowered at that location. The storm sewer is for the new ice arena. <br />• The water operators have been working on fixing issues with fire hydrants found during <br />flushing. The most common issues include: missing marker flags, broken chains, <br />interference from landscaping and mailboxes, and hydrants not shutting off completely <br />after they were opened.
