*Item 3.2.*

MEMORANDUM

TO: Mayor and City Council

FROM: Lori Johnson, Finance and Administrative Services Director

DATE: June 13, 2005

SUBJECT: Consider Westbound Liquor Quotes for Specialty Items

Attached please find information from Steve Chuba, Greystone Construction, regarding the
quotes received for specialty items that were originally part of bid package number 10 for
Westbound. The specialty items recommended for approval total $29,570. The rough
carpentry bid awarded last week and the finish carpentry bid that is currently being
advertised for award on July 11 are also part of bid package number 10.

Steve Chuba, Dave Potvin, and I met with Dan Pellinen, Tushie Montgomery Architects,
recently to discuss possible revisions to the cabinetry and interior design components of the
project in an effort to reduce the finish carpentry costs. As you will recall, bid package ten
was rejected because it came in substantially above the budget estimate. Those revisions are
currently being made with the bids scheduled to be opened on July 6 for presentation to the
Council on July 11.

Action Requested
The City Council is asked to authorize the specialty items quotes for Westbound as attached
in the total amount of $29,570.

S:\Council\Lori\2005\ Westbound Bids Specialty. doc
