To: Elk River Library Board
CC: Robbie Schake, LSC
From: Brandi Canter, Lead Patron Services Supervisor
Date: May 9, 2019
Per Capita Borrowers
At the March Elk River Library Board meeting you asked me about per -capita borrower information. Our
Borrower Workgroup recently reviewed similar statistics, which I share below.
Town(s) with
lip
GRRL
City?
Y/N
County
Borrower
Postal
Code
Borrower
Count
2017
population
estimate
(census
data)
Percent of
pop
borrowers
Becker
Y
Sherb.
55308
2151
9,637
22%
Big Lake
Y
Sherb.
55309
4070
18,809
22%
Clear Lake
N
Sherb.
55319
1035
5,423
19%
Elk River
Y
Sherb.
55330
8213
38,290
21%
St Cloud
Y
Sherb.
56304
4053
16,255
25%
Zimmerman
N
Sherb.
55398
2093
16,133
13%
Per Capital (major zips
Benton
17%
Morrison
22%
Sherburne
20%
Stearns
19%
Todd
19%
Wright
20%
Two caveats:
only) by County
1. The study only looked at zip codes with more than 10% registered GRRL card holders, so not all zip codes
in a county may be included.
2. This study doesn't look at what library patron designates as their home library, only in what zip code they
live. Therefore, we might have patrons who live in the Elk River zip code who use only or primarily the Big
Lake library, and vice versa.
1%]BRARY
EAT RIVER REGI0rm
