Elk River Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING TO: FROM: ERMU Commission Mike Tietz—Technical Services Superintendent MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: April 9, 2019 6.1d SUBJECT: Staff Update ACTION REQUESTED: None DISCUSSION: • In March, the locating department had a total of 107 locate tickets consisting of: two emergency tickets, 3 cancellations, 81 normal tickets, and 13 updated tickets. This is a 32% increase in the volume of tickets from the previous month. • Electrical technicians continue with updating the power bill, substation checks, disconnects/reconnects, dealing with customer meters, and off-peak issues. Staff continues to make progress on disconnecting A/C controllers. On March 27, the monthly run of Engines 1, 2, 3, and 4 was performed with no issues. • The annual Air Emission Inventory report was prepared and submitted to the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency(MPCA) on March 20. This report accounts for specific amounts of air pollutants and greenhouse gases discharged into the atmosphere from running the generators in 2018. • The mapping department continues to enter GPS points and attribute points for all of our systems assets within the ESRI ArcView GIS system. The locators continue to collect GPS points and enter data into the GIS system as time allows. • The VHF radio repeater will need to be relocated to a new site by June 1 due to the upcoming reconditioning of the Auburn Street Water Tower. Staff has been working with a vendor to determine a new optimal location, and to replace some faulty equipment. • On February 28 customers fed from the Otsego substation experienced a service interruption due to a broken bell on the Great River Energy(GRE) transmission line. On March 16 the same customers experienced a similar outage due to a broken insulator on the GRE transmission line. Outage reports for both are attached. Page 1of2 185
