Elk River <br /> Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING <br /> TO: FROM: <br /> ERMU Commission Mike Tietz—Technical Services Superintendent <br /> MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: <br /> April 9, 2019 6.1d <br /> SUBJECT: <br /> Staff Update <br /> ACTION REQUESTED: <br /> None <br /> DISCUSSION: <br /> • In March, the locating department had a total of 107 locate tickets consisting of: two <br /> emergency tickets, 3 cancellations, 81 normal tickets, and 13 updated tickets. This is a <br /> 32% increase in the volume of tickets from the previous month. <br /> • Electrical technicians continue with updating the power bill, substation checks, <br /> disconnects/reconnects, dealing with customer meters, and off-peak issues. Staff <br /> continues to make progress on disconnecting A/C controllers. On March 27, the monthly <br /> run of Engines 1, 2, 3, and 4 was performed with no issues. <br /> • The annual Air Emission Inventory report was prepared and submitted to the Minnesota <br /> Pollution Control Agency(MPCA) on March 20. This report accounts for specific <br /> amounts of air pollutants and greenhouse gases discharged into the atmosphere from <br /> running the generators in 2018. <br /> • The mapping department continues to enter GPS points and attribute points for all of <br /> our systems assets within the ESRI ArcView GIS system. The locators continue to collect <br /> GPS points and enter data into the GIS system as time allows. <br /> • The VHF radio repeater will need to be relocated to a new site by June 1 due to the <br /> upcoming reconditioning of the Auburn Street Water Tower. Staff has been working <br /> with a vendor to determine a new optimal location, and to replace some faulty <br /> equipment. <br /> • On February 28 customers fed from the Otsego substation experienced a service <br /> interruption due to a broken bell on the Great River Energy(GRE) transmission line. On <br /> March 16 the same customers experienced a similar outage due to a broken insulator <br /> on the GRE transmission line.
