Request by Elk River Municipal Utilities for Conditional Use Permit to Construct a <br />Municipal Well and Water Processing Facility. Case No. CU 01-21 <br /> <br />Director of Planning Michele McPherson reviewed the request by Elk River Municipal <br />Utilities for a conditional use permit to allow construction of a water treatment facility. The <br />facility is proposed to be located south and east of Twin Lakes Boulevard and north and <br />west of Trott Brook Farms. Ms. McPherson reviewed drawings of the three design options <br />proposed for the building. <br /> <br />Commissioner Baker stated he preferred Option 2 (Drawing SD2) which included <br />approximately 2/3 of the exterior walls in brick or rock face block, and a hip roof. <br /> <br />The Commissioners discussed the options in detail. The majority of the Commissioners <br />favored Option #3, which had a flat roof. <br /> <br />Ms. McPherson stated that landscaping would be provided on the east side of the building <br />for screening, and that a color sample would be approved before the walls were poured. <br /> <br />COMMISSIONER SCHUSTER MOVED APPROVAL OF THE REQUEST BY <br />ELK RIVER MUNICIPAL UTIliTIES FOR A CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT <br />FOR A WATER TREATMENT FACIliTY, CASE NO. CU 01-21 WITH THE <br />FOLLOWING CONDITIONS: <br /> <br />1. THE BUILDING SHALL COMPLY WITH THE BUILDING CODE <br />REQUIREMENTS. <br /> <br />2. THE BUILDING DESIGN SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH <br />DRAWING SD3 AS PRESENTED TO THE COMMISSION. <br /> <br />CHAIR PEDERSON SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED <br />4-1. Commissioner Baker opposed. <br /> <br />2. <br /> <br />Adjournment <br /> <br />Chair Pederson adjourned the meeting. <br />
