Meeting of the Woodland Trails Regional <br />Park Grant Committee <br />Held at the Elk River City Hall <br />Wednesday, December 26, 2018 <br /> <br />Members Present: Chair Anderson, Commission members, Niziolek, Rathbun, Hal Stewart, Jill <br />Varty, Lynda Bouley, Darlene Nickols, and Zachary Varty <br />Members Absent: Sarah Fischer, Julie Kallemeyn, and Ron Nierenhausen <br />WSB & Associates Candace Amberg <br />Staff Present: Parks and Recreation Director, Michael Hecker, Recreation Manager Steve <br />Benoit, Parks Superintendent Tim Sevcik, and Recreation Coordinator Tonya <br />Love <br />1. Call Meeting to Order <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the meeting of the Elk River Parks and Recreation <br />Commission was called to order at 5:31 p.m. by Chair Anderson. <br />2. Concept Plan Presentation <br />Ms. Amberg reviewed each of the three concept plans to the committee. <br />3. Concept Plan Review and Discussion <br />Committee discussed the three concept plans presented by Ms. Amberg. <br />Committee members discussed the location of the future Nature Center building, location of <br />shelter, and play area. <br />1. Keep large destination shelter separate from Nature Center building and Nature Play <br />area to avoid conflicts <br />2. Concept Plan #1 with Nature Center building moved slightly to the west and condense <br />nature play area to the north away from golf course hitting area <br />3. Mark the plan with a spot for a smaller shelter to be built in the future <br />Committee decided to discuss and give thoughts on manufactured play elements later in the <br />process and to keep play area more nature based. <br />4. Preferred Concept Plan Elements <br />Tabled for January 9, 2019 committee meeting.
