Houlton Conservation Area (WHHCA) Steward <br /> Background/Discussion <br /> Park and trail stewards provide leadership overseeing volunteers and are a key element in the maintaining <br /> and developing of the trails system throughout the parks. Stewards also serve as the primary <br /> communication link between staff and the volunteers who spend thousands of hours annually in the <br /> parks on maintenance and park improvements. <br /> Stewards may also provide and supervise safety training for volunteers as outlined in the attached city <br /> policy"Safety Rules and Equipment Usage for Volunteers". --This policy was recommended by the <br /> Commission and approved by City Council September of 2012. The Park Stewards Policy was approved <br /> by City Council June 2017. <br /> Hal Stewart has expressed interest to serve as the WHHCA Steward replacing Michael Schroeder who <br /> wants to continue volunteering for the city.
