ElkRiver'4;EiL <br />Municipal Utilities <br />UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING <br />TO: <br />FROM. <br />ERMU Commission <br />Eric Volk — Water Superintendent <br />MEETING DATE: <br />AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: <br />November 13, 2018 <br />6.le <br />SUBJECT: <br />Staff Update <br />ACTION REQUESTED: <br />None <br />DISCUSSION: <br />0 Delivered 14 new water meters. <br />• Sealed the water meter, and took curb stop ties from 13 water services. <br />• Completed 15 BACTI/Total Chlorine Residual Samples <br />• All confinned negative for Coliform Bacteria. <br />• Bacteriological/Disinfectant Residual Monthly Report submitted to the MDH <br />• Completed 23 routine fluoride samples <br />• All samples met MDH standards. <br />• Submitted MDH Fluoride Report <br />• The water department completed the annual inspection of the Lake Orono Dam on <br />October 3. The water department worked with the street department to complete the <br />inspection along with pumping out the roller bucket to inspect that area. The dam seems <br />to be in satisfactory condition. <br />• The water department, with assistance from the directional drilling crew, installed 217' of <br />new 3" water main along Nile Place. The old water main from 1947 had serious <br />tuberculation issues which caused poor water quality for the two customers at the end of <br />the line. <br />• The water department has continued to locate and validate existing areas of the <br />distribution system, along with locating new developments for addition to the map. <br />• We completed the final inspection of Miske Meadows 4th and 5th additions. These <br />additions will soon be ready for building to commence. <br />• As Minnesota American Water Works Association (MNAWWA) Section Chair, I have <br />been planning our December board meeting which is also our annual council and <br />committee chairs training event. I also attended the NW District Water Operators School <br />in Detroit Lakes to present the opening remarks. <br />• As Suburban Utilities Superintendent Association (SUSA) President we held our one -day <br />SUSA School at the Maple Grove Public Works building. We had 105 attendees.
