VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING
May 3, 1965

The regular meeting of the Elk River Village Council was held at the Village Hall on May 3, 1965
with all members present. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Johnson. The minutes of the
last meeting were read and approved.

Fire Chief Harry Dreissig was present. The Fire Department would like to take out Less Derr’s
office in the Fire barn and move the toilet back to the back of the building making more room for
the Fire trucks. They also suggested connecting to the regular sewer at the back of the building and
agreed that the firemen would be willing to do some of the work.

The Fire Chief also stated that the village will soon need a new fire truck. These matters are being
given consideration.

For the reason that the sewer was recently plugged up what appeared to be part of a cow’s stomach
which apparently came from the Elk River packing plant, the clerk was asked to write them to install
a proper trap within thirty days. Some towels were also found in the sewer.

L.G. Lamm was present asking about his request for re-zoning on his property. After discussion a
motion was made by Hudson and seconded by Bartelt that Lamm’s petition be denied.
