<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />October 5, 1964 <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Elk River Village Council was held at the Village Hall on Oct 5, 1964. All <br />members present except Councilman Meyer. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Johnson. <br />The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. <br /> <br />Supt. Of Schools Kenneth Parker was present. He asked about the school crossing on Proctor Ave. <br />He was referred to attorney John MacGibbon. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Briggs and seconded by Bartelt to renew on and off beer license for <br />Sherman Sachs. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Mrs. Clifford Gustafson asked for a renewal of their beer license at the Main St. Tap. Upon motion <br />by Briggs and second by Norris the license was granted. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Norris and seconded by Bartelt to approve use of plastic pipe for sewer <br />work in the new building being erected by Concrete Products Co. Motion carried. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Norris and seconded by Briggs to discontinue the payment of $700.00 per <br />year to the Board of Education for summer and winter recreation program. The vote Briggs – yes <br />Norris – yes Bartelt – no. Motion carried. <br /> <br />The date Oct. 28, 1964 was decided on the date of a hearing for assessments for sewer, water, and <br />curb and gutter (later postponed). <br /> <br />The following levy for the coming year: <br />General Fund 33 mills <br />Utilities 6 mills <br />Health and Recreation 1 mills <br />Poor Fund 4 mills <br />Music Fund .6 mills <br />Building Fund 2 mills <br />Firemens Pension .1 mills <br />Library Fund 5 mills <br /> <br />The following bills were approved: <br />PERA 2 ½% 410.62 <br />Hawkins Chem Chlorine 21.37 <br />N.P. Railway Parking lot 300.00 <br />Hubbard Co. Welfare Anderson 201.93 <br />A.N. Johnson Co – contractor 1925.00 <br />Nocarb Co Police tickets 16.00 <br />Tomel Co. – repairs 4.70 <br />Typewriter Shop – repairs 29.85 <br />Fullerton Lmbr Co – supplies 37.50 <br />Star News – printing 20.70 <br /> <br />
